Crop Insurance 101: Appraisals and Bin Measurements

Crop appraisals must be completed prior to destroying any crop or putting that crop to a different use. Pre-harvest appraisals are necessary when production will be stored in such a manner that production cannot be measured.

If feeding production, consider having bins measured or pre-harvest appraisals completed before feeding starts, as fed record requirements are difficult to manage.

If old crop and new crop will be commingled in a bin, the Approved Insurance Provider is required to measure the bin prior to adding a new crop.
